Blogroll Housekeeping

Our main and sleeping blogrolls need a little bit of tidying up.

Due notice is given that on February 1st, any Blogpower Blogs that have not made a 2008 posting will be moved over to the dormant list (Sleeping, Perchance dreaming). Conversely, any sleeping beauties that have woken up will be moved back. (Any that become 404 not found will be deleted).

It says on your web site that to be listed on Blogpower the bloggers need an About section on their pages. I have search high and low on Bradford vision for their About section to see who it is but can not find it. can you point me in the correct direction or clarify your rules. Thanks
Andy

Andy, the "rules" are guidance criteria for new Members who wish to join and they have evolved over the last fourteen months since Blogpower started. There is no compulsion to comply but other Members may be minded to object to them when it comes to voting them in.

Many bloggers are anonymous or psuedonymous so an "about" section may not be particularly informative.

So basically you are saying to get on to the site you need an About section, but once you are accepted then i does not matter anymore. If that is the case why bother asking for it in the first place? Why not just drop it and let anyone register. Drop all the "rules" including the 3 month rule.

Yes Andy. The current rules for joining, shown in the sidebar, have been formulated and agreed to by the membership of BP. Visions of Bradford, a long time member is known to us all. His contact information is in his site sidebar should you wish to do so.

jmb, you say Bradford Vision contact information is in his site sidebar. Yes there is a contact section, but not as I would expect an "About" section to be. His contact section gives no information about himself, just a form to fill in to send him a question. From what I read in your "rules" the "About" section should have something in about who the writer was. Surely the ft that you know who Bradford Vision is should not stop him from being regulated by your own "rules".

Andy, I put "rules" in inverted commas because they aren't really ongoing rules as such in that they aren't enforced retrospectively, i.e. they are not obligations on existing members (unless we collectively decided them to be). Indeed most of the rules are to do with current members being able to readily assess prospective ones.

So as I thought the "rules" only apply to new people not current members who made the "rules" Surely if it is a reason not to let someone join then the current people should also abide by them. If not then why should new people be made to jump through hoops if current members do not have to abide by them?

There is a reason for the "rules" as they are now, and they were formulated as the group developed.

If you have any further questions about the group or have an interest in joining, why don't you contact either myself or Shades directly.
