I like most of the top ones on that list, although I'm not sure about "sadly missed" - are there enough people to fill that category? - or "Award for serivces to blogging".
I'd go for the following:

I largely agree with Chris's selection, although I think prettiest and tastiest can be merged, and I think a best post category is still needed, as Tom points out.
Layout and style again, is covered.
The awards need to have categories diverse enough to show how diverse blogpower is.

Your comments here are pretty well what went into the final list [now ready], with one exception - merging Blogger we feel most sorry and Blogger sadly missed. that solves the problem of too many categories and not enough candidates.
I really think we have it just about right now.
