Pommygranate asks ...

pommygranate asks, at my blog …

James

I'd like to ask the group if anyone has found an effective way of making money from placing adverts on their blogs. i see that nearly everyone runs ads but would be intrested to see if anyone has any positive experiences from the process.

i know i dont!

So, good Blogpowerers, does anyone know of a way?

I have taken my ads of my blog as they didn't really relate to the content and in some cases were quite offensive.

Best wishes Shani

I have made $13.00 dollars on adsense - however Google don't pay out till it reaches $100 - soit could be a while. Adbrite has made me 11 dollars and they pay out at 20.00 dollars. I confidently expect an adbrite cheque some time in the next few months.... No you can't make money from ads unless you have more hits than the BBC

what's pay per post?

i have made a desultory $12.44 from my last 20,000 page impressions. im thinking of taking AdSense down as it is a waste of valuable space.

any other companies offering better deals than Adsense?

click thru on one of my posts (at the bottom) that way if you do happen to sign up, I get paid :)

Adsense is crap as they only pay after a hundred dollars. Very few people make it there and so are effectively taking adsense ads for free. Pay per post is a better way if you want to sell your ass to advertisers by pretending to like their stuff. Also-if disguised it is illegal in the UK as an advertiser MUST declare any pecuniary relationship with the product.

you have to use a disclaimer or tell people that it's a paid post

also you can pick any advert you want, a negative or positive one or simply one that gets word out.

Despite having a reasonable number of hits each day, I have to say that As A Dodo has thus far failed to make enough for a cup of tea at the nearest greasy spoon. Ho hum!

I am almost up to $70 with Adsense, with about 50,000 page views over about 10 months (which is just about inline with my hosting costs).

Some things I've noticed:

- People click more often on ads at the bottom of a post, rather than the ones on the sidebars.
- People who arrive to the site via Google/yahoo are far more likely to click on the ads than regular blog readers that come via links or rss readers, stumbleuponers, redditers etc. I am usually getting about 80-100 people a day via google and they are the ones clicking the ads. They are also hitting individual old posts, not the front page.

So the strategy that works for me is to see which old posts are getting the most hits and stick Adsense ads at the bottom of those.
